  2018, I moved to Ogun state and had to seek employment in a school within my vicinity. As a Lagos teacher, I was used to a vibrant class, swift answers and mushy acts by my students. So I resumed at my new work place with that fully charged energy. The first day got me confused. I was to teach the primary classes, I started my class and it was obvious these children were not following. They could neither understand what I was saying nor did they show any bit of interest. It was then I knew I had to start from the scratch. First, I had to create a connection. I wanted them to understand that I am first their friend. I needed to set the foundation that they can have both a friend and teacher in one. After that, I came down to their level. I made them feel and appreciate every little progress they made. Few years back, I was preparing my students for their examination which was to commence the subsequent week. I was supposed to go by the normal revision style-asking questions repeatedly and hoping they get the answers-which personally I realised it is not the best move. I realised some students rather than reading, they just cram the answers to the questions and on the exam day, they download it. That is if they can still recall. I also noticed some get bored with the question and answer section which occurs often. They find something to distract them and that leaves the teacher talking to just a few student whose attention is still fixed. I remember my first experience with a slow learner. At first I thought he was just lazy but later I realised it wasn't laziness. He was always quite, doesn't answer questions in class and rarely relate with his peers. Within months of my stay in the school I started noticing some changes in my boy. He now attempts assignment and classwork given. He talks in class and now relates well with his classmates. Mystery has always been an essential quality of  life. Sometimes,it's the bedrock of things beyond our field of vision or our scope of comprehension. What inspired me to write this is an interview I heard on the radio. Truly,if you can think it,then you can do/be it. The interviewee was a man who had some defects. He's deaf and can't speak well. Crying Anthony has been knocking on the gate for the past 20 minutes, I asked him why he was crying and he told me the gate was locked and no one has answered him since he was knocking. I also tried pushing the gate severally but it was futile so I started knocking. After knocking for about 5 minutes a lady inside asked what I wanted and I told her Anthony needs to go in but the hate was locked. We all must have heard it one way or the other that money grows on trees. I heard it first from my dad, I was so furious my dad hasn't paid my party fee. I cried and told him I must attend it and he replied saying "DO YOU THINK MONEY GROWS ON TREES". I also have said it to those who request for an amount of money I can't afford. I was the financial secretary of my fellowship in year 2015, which I had the fellowship's fund with me. There where days in school I had no food to eat, there was this particular day I fasted and had nothing to eat, the next day I still didn't eat anything until in the evening when I managed to get garri to drink. Though I was going through tough time but I didn't touch the fellowship funds. To me, the foremost thing on our minds now should be finding out the blueprints of the Creator for us this year, so as not to labour in vain. One of the many things that came to mind is what I'll share with you in this post. I came across a person who has set standards for liking people, and pitiably, these standards express the myopic state of a human mind. This stirred something somewhat deep in my heart and I'll like the world to know. Something that will stay with us forever is the diversity of personalities and identities. An educated mind will set standards with this concept in mind. I sat on the bed one early morning puzzled on why our mouths never cease to smell whenever we wake in the morning. I mean even when you brush it 10 times the previous day you will still wake up to a smelly mouth. Thou I also noticed the rate at which a mouth that get brushed once will smell isn't how the one that gets brushed twice daily would smell. The more frequent we brush our teeth the less smelly it gets. BUT THE FACT IS IT WOULD STILL SMELL. WHY?
