A story of my confused state

  2018, I moved to Ogun state and had to seek employment in a school within my vicinity. As a Lagos teacher, I was used to a vibrant class, swift answers and mushy acts by my students. So I resumed at my new work place with that fully charged energy. The first day got me confused. I was to teach the primary classes, I started my class and it was obvious these children were not following. They could neither understand what I was saying nor did they show any bit of interest. It was then I knew I had to start from the scratch. First, I had to create a connection. I wanted them to understand that I am first their friend. I needed to set the foundation that they can have both a friend and teacher in one. After that, I came down to their level. I made them feel and appreciate every little progress they made. I built up their interest in education. We worked together, applying several strategies I discovered and created, and within some month the growth was evident. Eureka is a book that ...

EVEN IF YOUR FEET IS IN IT, YOUR HEAD MUST BE ABOVE IT

Mystery has always been an essential quality of

life.
Sometimes,it's the bedrock of things beyond
our field of vision or our scope of comprehension.

What inspired me to write this is an interview I
heard on the radio.
Truly,if you can think it,then
you can do/be it.
The interviewee was a man who had some defects.
He's deaf and can't speak
well.
Despite this,he knows whatever people are
saying.
You'd wondering how he does this.
He lip- reads,that is,looking at the movements of the
mouth in order to be able to fathom out what the
person is saying.
This,to me,is intriguing.
Now,to the main quality the man has-I call it an
inventor's brain.

During the interview,I got to
know that the man actually made a DVD player
by himself using the local materials at his
disposal.
Before he did this,he went to learn how to repair electronic appliances for three
months.

The DVD player works well and he sells it for 3,000 naira.
Then,he stopped selling it because he sensed that others wanted to plagiarize his
work.
Let me share with you the nuggets I gleamed
from this story:
~~~~~~The fact that a deaf man has,what I
call,an inventor's brain is puzzling.
I'm sure if the
man's talent is developed,he'll become one of the
people who will set the world on fire technology-
wise.
No one expects such a man to be endowed with such a gift but who knows the ways of the
Creator?
There are many more puzzling stories
I've heard and witnessed.Even this man's words
are not that coherent,yet his talent is
promising.
This is puzzling.
~~~~~~~If you lack in a thing, there will surely
be a compensation in another thing.
The man's
hearing is impaired,yet this does not hinder him
from communicating.

He is hard of hearing yet he
knows what you are saying by lip-reading.From
my birth till now,I've not seen a man who lacks in
something and is not compensated for it in
another.
What you lack in beauty,you'll surely
make up for it in intelligence.

What you lack in
intelligence,you'll surely make up for it in
charisma.
What you lack in vocational skills,you'll
surely make up for it in education.
(These are just
my thoughts,it might be vice versa or another
thing entirely).

The bottom line of this is that
whatever you lack, you'll surely make up for it in
another.
That's an irrefutable law of nature.It's
left to you to find out the areas in which you lack
and the areas in which you make up for those
things you lack.
Trust me,no one has it all except
God.
~~~~~~~The man I used as a case study has
another laudable and inspirational quality.
That is,even though he lived in the status quo,he
refused to think within the confines of the status
quo.
Senior Pastor Paul Adefarasin once said,"Even if your feet is in it,your head must be
above it".Status quo is a Latin word which means "The Mess We're in".
If you live in this mess,if you
operate in this mess,today,I challenge you to
think above this mess.
Think the way out of the
mess you're in,stop bending to the whims of the
status quo.
The status quo can never be
abolished,it is you who must abolish it in your
own life.
Though,your feet may be in it, prevent
your head from being submerged in it.
Aspire to
rise above the status quo-this is something the
people who the world reveres now did.
So,if you want to be one of those people, you know what
to do.
~~~~~~Do not let your defects or your
inadequacies be the barriers to your
success.
Hellen Keller is an ideal example of this.
(You can find out more about her on Google).You
can be what you want to be,defects or not.Believe
that you are able,only then will the universe align
itself in favour of your dreams.
Always have this at the back of your mind that if
you can think it, you can be it.
Only then are you
not far from being a mystery yourself.

MY TALENT, MY PRIDE( DISCOVER YOURSELF)

Bola,Tayo, Ayo amd Bimpe where very close friends. they are the type of kids every parents would always pray to have. Bola was a very talented singer, she sings like an angel and everyone adores her. Tayo too was a good dancer, he is so flexible that one would wonder if his body where made of foam. Ayo wasn't left out, he was so good with spellings, he could spell words those older than him would find difficult spelling. Bimpe felt like the odd one out,"why am i the one without a talent"she would always say to herself. whenever she went out with her friends for talents audition she would always feel left out because she has nothing to present. she would always cry her eyes out sometimes wishing she was her friends. she envied her friends talents and most times prayed to God to make her a singer, dancer or a good speller. when she saw her prayers have been ignored by God she started attending dance and music classes, she would always go to her friend Ayo to teach ...

HOW I LOST MY JOB

HOW I LOST MY JOB (2016) The company's new managing director called me into his office. MD: Titi I'm very sure you're aware of the financial setback this company is facing and right now all hands ought to be on deck towards restructuring the company. Me: Yes Sir MD: Right now I need people that can get me ten million naira per month through marketing and the way I'm seeing you, you can't befriend those men that can put money into this business. Or can you? Me: No Sir MD: Well, I need those who can go to any length to get me that money. In that case your service is no longer needed here... I couldn't get another job for months until February when I got the teaching job, I was told I'm going to be paid an amount which is my previous salary divided by 3. I was already crying inside me, it was like a grace to grass story but man has gat no choice so I accepted it. I knew if I was to base my teaching on my salary it won't turn out well so I had to...

HOW TO COPE WITH SLOW LEARNERS

I remember my first experience with a slow learner. At first I thought he was just lazy but later I realised it wasn't laziness. He was always quite, doesn't answer questions in class and rarely relate with his peers. Within months of my stay in the school I started noticing some changes in my boy. He now attempts assignment and classwork given. He talks in class and now relates well with his classmates. The trick is to first make them feel safe in class rather than make your expectations a burden to them. Over the years I've had to teach slow Learners and it has been a wonderful experience. The link below is a podcast where I talked on how to cope with Slow Learners. It's a ten minutes audio that summarizes strategies you can put in place when you have a slow learner in class. If you have questions, I'll be glad to answer them. https://anchor.fm/MissDairo%20/episodes/How-to-cope-with-Slow-Learners-ef5bj4 Don't forget to leave a comment and share w...
