2018, I moved to Ogun state and had to seek employment in a school within my vicinity. As a Lagos teacher, I was used to a vibrant class, swift answers and mushy acts by my students. So I resumed at my new work place with that fully charged energy. The first day got me confused. I was to teach the primary classes, I started my class and it was obvious these children were not following. They could neither understand what I was saying nor did they show any bit of interest. It was then I knew I had to start from the scratch. First, I had to create a connection. I wanted them to understand that I am first their friend. I needed to set the foundation that they can have both a friend and teacher in one. After that, I came down to their level. I made them feel and appreciate every little progress they made. Crying Anthony has been knocking on the gate for the past 20 minutes, I asked him why he was crying and he told me the gate was locked and no one has answered him since he was knocking.
I also tried pushing the gate severally but it was futile so I started knocking.
After knocking for about 5 minutes a lady inside asked what I wanted and I told her Anthony needs to go in but the hate was locked.
She told me the gate wasn't locked, on hearing that I pushed the gate and it opened immediately.
I was stunned, this is the same gate I pushed 5 minutes ago why didn't it open then.
It then dawn on me that my mindset was at fault.
The first attempt, I pushed the gate with a mindset that it was locked and that was the result I got.
On the second attempt I pushed the gate with a mindset that it was open and it turned out that way.
I also noticed, the energy I put into use when pushing it the first time was less than the energy on the second attempt.
If you were told that the business you ventured into would yield great results if hardwork is stable, would you do things differently?
If we are shown our lives 10 years from now am very sure we would put more or less effort into what we are doing.
What we think and believe in greatly affects our results.
Entering into an examination hall, starting a business, applying for a job with fear and a mindset of failure would definitely turn out same.
Unemployed graduates everywhere increases as a result of mindset, undergraduates have been made to believe there is no job, so when they become graduates they apply for jobs with the mindset that there is none and they end up getting none.
Our greatest asset is our mind, if we can imagine, think and believe it, we definitely can achieve it.
Great men of today convinced themselves that they can do it and it turned out so.
If you can change your mindset, you can change your world.
Every action, results, act of terrorism, failure, success, e.t.c are all products of our mindset.
If you can convince yourself that you can make it- the world is automatically convinced.
The world would be a better place only if we change our mindset.
