A story of my confused state

2018, I moved to Ogun state and had to seek employment in a school within my vicinity. As a Lagos teacher, I was used to a vibrant class, swift answers and mushy acts by my students. So I resumed at my new work place with that fully charged energy. The first day got me confused. I was to teach the primary classes, I started my class and it was obvious these children were not following. They could neither understand what I was saying nor did they show any bit of interest. It was then I knew I had to start from the scratch. First, I had to create a connection. I wanted them to understand that I am first their friend. I needed to set the foundation that they can have both a friend and teacher in one. After that, I came down to their level. I made them feel and appreciate every little progress they made. I built up their interest in education. We worked together, applying several strategies I discovered and created, and within some month the growth was evident. Eureka is a book that ...

WHAT'S YOUR PRIORITY

Dear Teen,
It is normal as a guy to be attracted to a girl because she's pretty, has nice curves, intelligent, has lovely hair e.t.c.
As a girl it is also normal to be attracted to a guy because he's neat, a bad boy, tall, handsome, intelligent etc.

Everyone has something irresistible that attracts then to the opposite sex.
It is also normal to also wish you could cuddle yourself, be in a relationship, kiss, show off to friends etc.

So many even go to an extend of dreaming they are married to  the person with kids.

The difference between that pregnant teen and you is SELF CONTROL.
The only reason you don't have a boyfriend and not pregnant is SELF CONTROL.
The only reason you don't have a girlfriend and haven't impregnated anyone is SELF CONTROL.

BUT SELF CONTROL HAS GOT STAGES.
Maybe the reason you could control yourself is because the opposite sex hadn't made any moves yet.
It could be you've not gotten a chance away from your parents.

There where times in school when the urge to have a boyfriend was too strong.
I saw what guys got for their bae, I saw them cuddle and all that. I wished I had one.

I had them coming, all I had to do was say YES.
Thank God I didn't yield to it.
There where certain questions I asked myself that really helped me.

* What is the reason for this relationship?
( If its because you need someone to tell you I LOVE YOU, cuddle you then you don't need a boyfriend)

* Can I boldly tell everyone I have a boyfriend/girlfriend?
( If the answer is no then its because that's not the right time)

* Where is this relationship leading us to?
( If you can't answer this then you're not ready)

*What can this person offer me that is different from what my friends offer me?
( Am sure the answer is kisses, hugs, etc)

* Would God be pleased with the relationship?

* Would my parents be happy?

* Is this what I ought to be thinking or asking for at this age?

* What would be the end result?

In our world today, teenagers are breaking records with their talents, inventions, they are going places and impacting all.
Why not join that lane rather than be that teenager interested in cuddling.

Mitchell Obama said " There is no boy or girl at this age that is cute enough or interesting enough to stop you from getting your education. If I had worried about who liked me or who thought I was cute as a teen, I wouldn't be married to the President of United State.

SET YOUR PRIORITY RIGHT

HOW TO COPE WITH SLOW LEARNERS

I remember my first experience with a slow learner. At first I thought he was just lazy but later I realised it wasn't laziness. He was always quite, doesn't answer questions in class and rarely relate with his peers. Within months of my stay in the school I started noticing some changes in my boy. He now attempts assignment and classwork given. He talks in class and now relates well with his classmates. The trick is to first make them feel safe in class rather than make your expectations a burden to them. Over the years I've had to teach slow Learners and it has been a wonderful experience. The link below is a podcast where I talked on how to cope with Slow Learners. It's a ten minutes audio that summarizes strategies you can put in place when you have a slow learner in class. If you have questions, I'll be glad to answer them. https://anchor.fm/MissDairo%20/episodes/How-to-cope-with-Slow-Learners-ef5bj4 Don't forget to leave a comment and share w...

MY TALENT, MY PRIDE( DISCOVER YOURSELF)

Bola,Tayo, Ayo amd Bimpe where very close friends. they are the type of kids every parents would always pray to have. Bola was a very talented singer, she sings like an angel and everyone adores her. Tayo too was a good dancer, he is so flexible that one would wonder if his body where made of foam. Ayo wasn't left out, he was so good with spellings, he could spell words those older than him would find difficult spelling. Bimpe felt like the odd one out,"why am i the one without a talent"she would always say to herself. whenever she went out with her friends for talents audition she would always feel left out because she has nothing to present. she would always cry her eyes out sometimes wishing she was her friends. she envied her friends talents and most times prayed to God to make her a singer, dancer or a good speller. when she saw her prayers have been ignored by God she started attending dance and music classes, she would always go to her friend Ayo to teach ...
