A story of my confused state

2018, I moved to Ogun state and had to seek employment in a school within my vicinity. As a Lagos teacher, I was used to a vibrant class, swift answers and mushy acts by my students. So I resumed at my new work place with that fully charged energy. The first day got me confused. I was to teach the primary classes, I started my class and it was obvious these children were not following. They could neither understand what I was saying nor did they show any bit of interest. It was then I knew I had to start from the scratch. First, I had to create a connection. I wanted them to understand that I am first their friend. I needed to set the foundation that they can have both a friend and teacher in one. After that, I came down to their level. I made them feel and appreciate every little progress they made. I built up their interest in education. We worked together, applying several strategies I discovered and created, and within some month the growth was evident. Eureka is a book that ...

EVEN IF YOUR FEET IS IN IT, YOUR HEAD MUST BE ABOVE IT

Mystery has always been an essential quality of  life. Sometimes,it's the bedrock of things beyond our field of vision or our scope of comprehension. What inspired me to write this is an interview I heard on the radio. Truly,if you can think it,then you can do/be it. The interviewee was a man who had some defects. He's deaf and can't speak well. Despite this,he knows whatever people are saying. You'd wondering how he does this. He lip- reads, that is,looking at the movements of the mouth in order to be able to fathom out what the person is saying. This,to me,is intriguing. Now,to the main quality the man has-I call it an inventor's brain. During the interview,I got to know that the man actually made a DVD player by himself using the local materials at his disposal. Before he did this,he went to learn how to repair electronic appliances for three months. The DVD player works well and he sells it for 3,000 naira. Then,he stopped selling it be...

MINDSET MAKEOVER

Crying Anthony has been knocking on the gate for the past 20 minutes, I asked him why he was crying and he told me the gate was locked and no one has answered him since he was knocking. I also tried pushing the gate severally but it was futile so I started knocking. After knocking for about 5 minutes a lady inside asked what I wanted and I told her Anthony needs to go in but the hate was locked. She told me the gate wasn't locked, on hearing that I pushed the gate and it opened immediately. I was stunned, this is the same gate I pushed 5 minutes ago why didn't it open then. It then dawn on me that my mindset was at fault. The first attempt, I pushed the gate with a mindset that it was locked and that was the result I got. On the second attempt I pushed the gate with a mindset that it was open and it turned out that way. I also noticed, the energy I put into use when pushing it the first time was less than the energy on the second attempt. If you were told that the busi...

YES!!! MONEY GROWS ON TREES

We all must have heard it one way or the other that money grows on trees. I heard it first from my dad, I was so furious my dad hasn't paid my party fee. I cried and told him I must attend it and he replied saying "DO YOU THINK MONEY GROWS ON TREES". I also have said it to those who request for an amount of money I can't afford. Few weeks ago I came to realise that money do really grow on trees. The first step to growing money is BELIEVE (FAITH), believe is the best soil for growing money. It has lots of nutrient that would aid rapid and healthy growth of money. When you make believe your soil, you are positive you would yield a bountiful harvest. The second step is PERSISTENCE, just like you water your crops daily you also need to be persistent in life if you desire a bountiful harvest. Persistence should be a daily thing, never get tired of it. The third step is your SOURCE, how connected are you to the right source would determine if you would get the neede...

You ain't gonna live forever

Nothing in life ever remains exactly the same. And no one for that matter. You either increase or decrease. You either improve or deteriorate. The person you were some years back is not the same person you are now. You have changed and you keep changing. Of a surety, we will stop growing in height and size, but our mental faculties never stop growing. This is to propel someone out there; to be the best you can be and to subject yourself to changes that will revolutionize your life for the better. Read extensively. Deliberately immerse yourself in God. Purposely etch your face on the memory of others. Consciously build a memorial in the life of others. Let your lifestyle command the regard of others. Build your self esteem on the foundations of God's word. Let your carriage be with style and grace. Improve your vocab. Widen your thinking capacity. Undertake elocution lessons if need be. Upgrade your fashion sense, moderately. Define who you are with ...

UNDERSTANDING the way to PERFECTION

Perfect sontin!!! I want a perfect job, husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, I want to be perfect. These are demands we make daily. You can't get a perfect sontin, job, husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend... These are answers we get when we ask for the above. What exactly is perfection? Though the dictionary defined it as without fault, weakness, to be complete, exact and correct But in the actual sense understanding comes before perfection There is actually no perfect human on earth, but there perfect humans on earth if understanding is placed first. Perfection to me is "knowing the fault, weakness, lack... Of a person, thing, job or yourself, understanding it is already a part of them and deciding those you can change and those that can't be changed, then seeing the person, thing, job or yourself as perfect. For someone or something to be perfect You must have listed out their weakness and faults. Note those you can change and work on them Note those you can...

Bola,Tayo, Ayo amd Bimpe where very close friends. they are the type of kids every parents would always pray to have. Bola was a very talented singer, she sings like an angel and everyone adores her. Tayo too was a good dancer, he is so flexible that one would wonder if his body where made of foam. Ayo wasn't left out, he was so good with spellings, he could spell words those older than him would find difficult spelling. Bimpe felt like the odd one out,"why am i the one without a talent"she would always say to herself. whenever she went out with her friends for talents audition she would always feel left out because she has nothing to present. she would always cry her eyes out sometimes wishing she was her friends. she envied her friends talents and most times prayed to God to make her a singer, dancer or a good speller. when she saw her prayers have been ignored by God she started attending dance and music classes, she would always go to her friend Ayo to teach ...

HOW TO COPE WITH SLOW LEARNERS

I remember my first experience with a slow learner. At first I thought he was just lazy but later I realised it wasn't laziness. He was always quite, doesn't answer questions in class and rarely relate with his peers. Within months of my stay in the school I started noticing some changes in my boy. He now attempts assignment and classwork given. He talks in class and now relates well with his classmates. The trick is to first make them feel safe in class rather than make your expectations a burden to them. Over the years I've had to teach slow Learners and it has been a wonderful experience. The link below is a podcast where I talked on how to cope with Slow Learners. It's a ten minutes audio that summarizes strategies you can put in place when you have a slow learner in class. If you have questions, I'll be glad to answer them. https://anchor.fm/MissDairo%20/episodes/How-to-cope-with-Slow-Learners-ef5bj4 Don't forget to leave a comment and share w...
