A story of my confused state

2018, I moved to Ogun state and had to seek employment in a school within my vicinity. As a Lagos teacher, I was used to a vibrant class, swift answers and mushy acts by my students. So I resumed at my new work place with that fully charged energy. The first day got me confused. I was to teach the primary classes, I started my class and it was obvious these children were not following. They could neither understand what I was saying nor did they show any bit of interest. It was then I knew I had to start from the scratch. First, I had to create a connection. I wanted them to understand that I am first their friend. I needed to set the foundation that they can have both a friend and teacher in one. After that, I came down to their level. I made them feel and appreciate every little progress they made. I built up their interest in education. We worked together, applying several strategies I discovered and created, and within some month the growth was evident. Eureka is a book that ...

PROVISION FOR ALL

To me, the foremost thing on our minds now should be finding out the blueprints of the Creator for us this year, so as not to labour in vain. Like I wrote in my previous posts, aligning our dreams with the Creator's plans will save us the acrimony of seeing our cherished dreams crushed. Heed this advice and follow it through this year. Now,to the main thing on my mind, that was just a digression. I recall that some years back, spiritual inferiority was my second nature. I wired myself to think less of myself,as regards spirituality. I could not help wondering if I was not destined to be part of those who enjoy an intimate relationship with their maker. Perhaps,I would have to rely on using those who were destined as a means to glean the intricacies of the spiritual realm. I kept lingering in this state until I encountered some life-changing experiences(which I won't share with you but one). As I grew up spiritually, with the help of certain books I read especially Joyce ...

FARSIGHTEDNESS

One of the many things that came to mind is what I'll share with you in this post. I came across a person who has set standards for liking people, and pitiably, these standards express the myopic state of a human mind. This stirred something somewhat deep in my heart and I'll like the world to know. Something that will stay with us forever is the diversity of personalities and identities. An educated mind will set standards with this concept in mind. It's not wrong to decide who you like or not, what is unthinkable is when you base your criteria for liking people on almost negligible and shallow standards, such as financial status, ethnicity, good looks, etc. We should have the initiative to see beyond those, to search out the intents of the heart and the true colour of a person, before we decide who is worth our affection or not. Others should be judged on the basis of true character, not on some shallow good looks and the likes. High-quality people do not often c...

BOYFRIEND VERSUS BOYFRIEND

Boyfriend as used in this post refers to both gender. Yes I think it is Time we have a boyfriend vs boyfriend fight. Let's know who owns the name boyfriend. The dictionary definition did justice to that but we still don't get it. I was asked "Do you have a boyfriend?", i replied "No i don't" she laughed "so you don't have a male friend", "I call then guyfriends, not boyfriends" Yeah! So to aid our understanding I would be using guyfriend which would mean: A guy you know well and like. Boyfriend: A man or boy that you're having a sexual relationship with. So back to our discussion, still on the Dear Teens series. Dear Teen, I'm sure you're good. In case you missed my first Dear Teen post, you can get to my blog jesustibab.blogspot.com and search for WHAT'S YOUR PRIORITY. As a teenager why do you need a guyfriend or boyfriend? GUYFRIEND  studies together  Pray together  Play Listens to you Advises you Makes you happy...

WHAT'S YOUR PRIORITY

Dear Teen, It is normal as a guy to be attracted to a girl because she's pretty, has nice curves, intelligent, has lovely hair e.t.c. As a girl it is also normal to be attracted to a guy because he's neat, a bad boy, tall, handsome, intelligent etc. Everyone has something irresistible that attracts then to the opposite sex. It is also normal to also wish you could cuddle yourself, be in a relationship, kiss, show off to friends etc. So many even go to an extend of dreaming they are married to  the person with kids. The difference between that pregnant teen and you is SELF CONTROL. The only reason you don't have a boyfriend and not pregnant is SELF CONTROL. The only reason you don't have a girlfriend and haven't impregnated anyone is SELF CONTROL. BUT SELF CONTROL HAS GOT STAGES. Maybe the reason you could control yourself is because the opposite sex hadn't made any moves yet. It could be you've not gotten a chance away from your parents. There wh...

TRAINING A CHILD

Its no longer news that children aren't trained in the way they ought to go but in the way their parents deem it fit for them to go. Before a child is born, parents have concluded on the path/career of the child and when he is born, he has no option than follow their path like a dummy least the society tags him a disobedient child. I was discussing with a couple days ago and I raised the topic of training a child. I told them children should in the way they should go not the way their parents want them to go. I was taken aback by their response "So we should allow him become wayward abi, he should do whatever he wants to do..." Pro 22:6 "Train up a child IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO and when he is old he won't depart from it." IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO not IN THE WAY YOU WANT HIM TO GO. Let me explain better with this illustration. A pencil marker was invented for the purpose of colouring drawings on paper, you bought it and without reading the manual yo...

HOW TO COPE WITH SLOW LEARNERS

I remember my first experience with a slow learner. At first I thought he was just lazy but later I realised it wasn't laziness. He was always quite, doesn't answer questions in class and rarely relate with his peers. Within months of my stay in the school I started noticing some changes in my boy. He now attempts assignment and classwork given. He talks in class and now relates well with his classmates. The trick is to first make them feel safe in class rather than make your expectations a burden to them. Over the years I've had to teach slow Learners and it has been a wonderful experience. The link below is a podcast where I talked on how to cope with Slow Learners. It's a ten minutes audio that summarizes strategies you can put in place when you have a slow learner in class. If you have questions, I'll be glad to answer them. https://anchor.fm/MissDairo%20/episodes/How-to-cope-with-Slow-Learners-ef5bj4 Don't forget to leave a comment and share w...

THE BEAUTY OF FAILURE

behind every failure there is a hidden beauty which is only discovered by those who are not defeated by their failures but rather take each failure as a stepping stone to a successful tomorrow. the story of the two great men below shows that there is truly a beauty behind every failure, though this stories are just summaries but it would be of your advantage if you read more on them. THINGS YOU CAN DO TO GROW THAT TALENT ( SINGERS,DANCERS,ACTORS)

today i will be sharing ways you can create an opportunity for yourself by using your talents. like i said before talent is never static, it either grows or dies. and am very sure no one wants a dying talent but the question is HOW WOULD I GROW MY TALENT many people say the reason they have not improved their talent is because of finance, lack of connection e.t.c. really that shouldn't be a problem anymore as i would be sharing  different ways you can showcase your talent.
