A story of my confused state

2018, I moved to Ogun state and had to seek employment in a school within my vicinity. As a Lagos teacher, I was used to a vibrant class, swift answers and mushy acts by my students. So I resumed at my new work place with that fully charged energy. The first day got me confused. I was to teach the primary classes, I started my class and it was obvious these children were not following. They could neither understand what I was saying nor did they show any bit of interest. It was then I knew I had to start from the scratch. First, I had to create a connection. I wanted them to understand that I am first their friend. I needed to set the foundation that they can have both a friend and teacher in one. After that, I came down to their level. I made them feel and appreciate every little progress they made. I built up their interest in education. We worked together, applying several strategies I discovered and created, and within some month the growth was evident. Eureka is a book that ...

IF LIFE ISN'T FAIR. BLEACH IT

am so sure you went ha ha ha ha when you saw this funny title, yeah!!! i thought so too when i got the inspiration to write on it but after i meditated on it, everything became very very clear. majority of us are fond of complaining, nagging, crying and shouting LIFE ISN'T FAIR!!!, just because you lost your loved ones, failed an examination, had a break-up or lost a job opportunity. am sure you would be expecting me to write on how to bleach life since it isn't fair, but dearie just as i wouldn't advice you to use a bleaching cream, i won't also advice you to bleach your life. some of us are black, dudu, brown, red, chocolate, fair, yellow, afi e.t.c in complexion, that was just the way we were created.  it wasn't our choice to make, but rather to love. irrespective of the complexion you are, it is expected of you to love yourself.  i wonder why so many people love bleaching their colors, they want to become fair because they think fairness if beauty. you ...

DON'T GIVE ROOM FOR FAILURE 2

in my last post i wrote about how we have given failure room in our lives and the repercussion. i also talked about how to give the right of ownership to success so that failure won't be the owner anymore. so in today's post i would be continuing from my last post which would be very brief. i talked about giving your room to success so that failure would have no choice but to squat or leave your life. now the beauty of this is SUCCESS HAS FRIENDS. you can remember i said i allowed my friend squat with me because i trusted her and also because she is my friend.  a lot of people actually begged to squat with me but because they were strangers whom i couldn't vouch for their character i turned them down. That is exactly what happens when you give the room to success. SUCCESS doesn't trust FAILURE, they are no friends at all. so do you actually think success would actually allow failure into your life HELL NO!!!! success has friends who are begging to squat with ...

DON'T GIVE ROOM FOR FAILURE

on my way home yesterday this just popped into my thought ( DON'T GIVE ROOM FOR FAILURE). i later got a deep insight into that and i decided to make it our topic for today. you know back then in school i was among those were allocated hostels by the school but a friend of mine wasn't given. she then approached me and asked to squat with me which i agreed because i actually trusted her and had no issues with her. when she started staying with me she met certain rules and regulations which she was forced to abide by since it was my room and she was just a squatter.  am so sure if she had her own room she wouldn't abide by rules but since i own the room she had no choice. you would agree with me that if you should go spend some days with a friend or family member you would have to adjust to their lifestyle there, and if you know you can't adjust you would just have to quit staying with them. now the point am trying to make here it that so many of us have give...

UNDERSTANDING YOUR DESTINY HELPER

everyone knows a destiny helper is that person who helps you achieve your destiny. i absolutely agree with that but looking at our understanding of destiny helpers i noticed a gap which i intend to bridge with this post. before i proceed i would want to appreciate the foundation of this post which is the HOLY SPIRIT a destiny helper is a person, an event, occurrence targeted at pushing us to our destiny. majority of us believe destiny helpers are those who invest into your dreams or support you financially. it is actually deeper than that and because we don't really understand them we fail to recognise it when God sends us one. to make this posts clearer we would be studying some very popular bible characters as our case study JOSEPH: we are all familiar with the story of Joseph, his dreams, and how he became prime minister. now i hope your are aware that Pharaoh wasn't his destiny helper in any way.                 his brothers betrayal...

LUKE 2:42-52 the secret of wisdom ( SIT, LISTEN, ASK)

learn the secret of wisdom ( sit, listen, ask) ever wondered why Jesus would stoop so low as to sitting, listening and asking questions in the temple.  so many of those too have thought this way "how can i learn from him?" "how can i ask questions" and other every funny remarks. Jesus Christ knew the secret for the height of wisdom he wanted lies in his ability to sit, listen and ask. the sitting most come before the listening and then the asking comes after. i wonder sometimes why some people ask amiss and i discovered it lies in their inability to sit. the FACT ABOUT SITTING is that it relaxes your nerves and keeps you alert. it keeps you sense organs alert and ready for the information they are about to receive. i discovered an information received while standing cant be compared to an information received while sitting.  when standing you are not focused, your mind is divided between the information and other happenings around you, but when you are ...

LUKE 2:39-42 STAYING BEHIND

i was going through this passage of the bible and this time i got a clearer picture of the story. we all are familiar with the story of Jesus when he accompanied his parents to Jerusalem but stayed back without the notice of his parents. today i will be picking up points from this very popular scripture when he was twelve years old as he followed his parents to Jerusalem, rather than coming home with them he stayed behind. it surely would get to a time in your life where you have to know that you must not go at all time. sometimes you must choose to stay behind. yearly when Jesus followed his parents to Jerusalem he always comes back with them, but this time around he realized he must make a choice. it is time you make that choice. Jesus realized following his parents home at all time wont do him good so he stayed behind. you must not do something because others are doing it. you have a right to make your own choices. nobody understands yourself more than YOU, You know what yo...

MY TALENT, MY PRIDE( DISCOVER YOURSELF)

Bola,Tayo, Ayo amd Bimpe where very close friends. they are the type of kids every parents would always pray to have. Bola was a very talented singer, she sings like an angel and everyone adores her. Tayo too was a good dancer, he is so flexible that one would wonder if his body where made of foam. Ayo wasn't left out, he was so good with spellings, he could spell words those older than him would find difficult spelling. Bimpe felt like the odd one out,"why am i the one without a talent"she would always say to herself. whenever she went out with her friends for talents audition she would always feel left out because she has nothing to present. she would always cry her eyes out sometimes wishing she was her friends. she envied her friends talents and most times prayed to God to make her a singer, dancer or a good speller. when she saw her prayers have been ignored by God she started attending dance and music classes, she would always go to her friend Ayo to teach ...

Me: Yes Sir MD: Right now I need people that can get me ten million naira per month through marketing and the way I'm seeing you, you can't befriend those men that can put money into this business. HOW TO COPE WITH SLOW LEARNERS

I remember my first experience with a slow learner. At first I thought he was just lazy but later I realised it wasn't laziness. He was always quite, doesn't answer questions in class and rarely relate with his peers. Within months of my stay in the school I started noticing some changes in my boy. He now attempts assignment and classwork given. He talks in class and now relates well with his classmates. The trick is to first make them feel safe in class rather than make your expectations a burden to them. Over the years I've had to teach slow Learners and it has been a wonderful experience. The link below is a podcast where I talked on how to cope with Slow Learners. It's a ten minutes audio that summarizes strategies you can put in place when you have a slow learner in class. If you have questions, I'll be glad to answer them. https://anchor.fm/MissDairo%20/episodes/How-to-cope-with-Slow-Learners-ef5bj4 Don't forget to leave a comment and share w...
