A story of my confused state

2018, I moved to Ogun state and had to seek employment in a school within my vicinity. As a Lagos teacher, I was used to a vibrant class, swift answers and mushy acts by my students. So I resumed at my new work place with that fully charged energy. The first day got me confused. I was to teach the primary classes, I started my class and it was obvious these children were not following. They could neither understand what I was saying nor did they show any bit of interest. It was then I knew I had to start from the scratch. First, I had to create a connection. I wanted them to understand that I am first their friend. I needed to set the foundation that they can have both a friend and teacher in one. After that, I came down to their level. I made them feel and appreciate every little progress they made. I built up their interest in education. We worked together, applying several strategies I discovered and created, and within some month the growth was evident. Eureka is a book that cove

HOW TO COPE WITH SLOW LEARNERS

I remember my first experience with a slow learner. At first I thought he was just lazy but later I realised it wasn't laziness. He was always quite, doesn't answer questions in class and rarely relate with his peers. Within months of my stay in the school I started noticing some changes in my boy. He now attempts assignment and classwork given. He talks in class and now relates well with his classmates. The trick is to first make them feel safe in class rather than make your expectations a burden to them. Over the years I've had to teach slow Learners and it has been a wonderful experience. The link below is a podcast where I talked on how to cope with Slow Learners. It's a ten minutes audio that summarizes strategies you can put in place when you have a slow learner in class. If you have questions, I'll be glad to answer them. https://anchor.fm/MissDairo%20/episodes/How-to-cope-with-Slow-Learners-ef5bj4 Don't forget to leave a comment and share w

HOW I LOST MY JOB

HOW I LOST MY JOB (2016) The company's new managing director called me into his office. MD: Titi I'm very sure you're aware of the financial setback this company is facing and right now all hands ought to be on deck towards restructuring the company. Me: Yes Sir MD: Right now I need people that can get me ten million naira per month through marketing and the way I'm seeing you, you can't befriend those men that can put money into this business. Or can you? Me: No Sir MD: Well, I need those who can go to any length to get me that money. In that case your service is no longer needed here... I couldn't get another job for months until February when I got the teaching job, I was told I'm going to be paid an amount which is my previous salary divided by 3. I was already crying inside me, it was like a grace to grass story but man has gat no choice so I accepted it. I knew if I was to base my teaching on my salary it won't turn out well so I had to

Why is God so wicked?

#LengthyPost Today I was thinking about all my years on earth and lessons I've learnt. I remembered the day I wholeheartedly prayed to for death. I so wanted to die since I found every second of my stay on earth useless. Now a thought popped up in my mind " what if God answers all prayers" That means I would have been long forgotten. We often ask "Why didn't God answer my prayers?" "why did He let this happen?" Is God a wicked God?. Why does He turn deaf ears sometimes to our pleas I watched a movie yesterday. A young man bore bitter feeling of resentment toward God just because he prayed to God to save his father and yet he died. A priest told him God is just like our parents. They love and care for you yet they don't give you everything you ask for. Not because they don't have it but because they see what you don't see. I remember as a child I had at one point disliked my parents because I felt they didn't do thing

SELF LOVE

From the creation story in Gen 1:26, we learnt God created man in his own image and likeness, no wonder the bible says in Ps 82:6 that "I have said, ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most high". On the 9th April in church the word SELF LOVE was dropped in my spirit and after meditating on it I got some revelation about it. Rom 5:8 "But God shows his Love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us", have you ever pondered on why God instructed Christ to die for us because of our sins. Why did he still love us despite our wicked ways. That was SELF LOVE in action, when God looks at us he sees Himself because he created us in his image and likeness. Despite our sins, He couldn't bring himself to hate us because he keeps seeing himself in us, no wonder he had to sacrifice his only begotten son for our sake. Eph 5:25 "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her". The church isn

IF IT'S ABOUT A CHILD, TALK TO ME

As parents to get the best from our kids starts from us, same goes to teachers. We are all gearing towards making the world a better place and our kids are the ones to make that change but it all depends on how we train them today. Parents, teachers and guardian need to be enlightened and counselled on how to get the best from these kids. The world is changing and so are our kids. All kids are different and thus require different approach but we make the mistake of generalizing the advice and punishment given to them. Want to get the best of your child? Having issues and want a way out? Want to know how best to relate with that child? Want to know what works best? Do you feel your kid doesn't take to correction? Why do kids do what they do? Why do they act that way? What do they want from you? Meet me, Dairo Titilope Blessing (JesusTibab, Miss Dairo) kid's best friend. I have got 98%( still counting) of the solutions and answer you need. WHY YOU SHOULD CONSULT ME 1 I run an ini

THE OTHER SIDE

Am not here to talk an about the other room oh LOL😆😆 this one is about the other side. Please drop your comments, I would love to know how you feel about this post.    I was in church for the digging deep service, when the Preacher started teaching I noticed what he was saying didn't correspond with the digging deep study sheet I was given.  I checked the date of the sheet and it was 18th of October 2016 and the date for that day was 11th. I noticed the congregation didn't look confused like I was so I thought of calling the attention of the usher.  Before I could get the attention of the ushers I decided to turn the other side of the sheet and there it was 11th October 2016 the topic for that day. NOTE: Before I realized the topic been preached was on the other side, the preacher was almost through with the teaching. This singular event opened my eyes to amazing life lessons I would be sharing here. 1) Majority of us have been believing God for a particular blessin

CONDUCTOR'S SECRET

Y e sterday i boarded a bus to work and the conductor taught me a very important life lesson.  When i entered i was the only one in the bus and there were several buses there calling out for passengers but this conductor of the bus i entered did something i loved. He went across the road and started calling for passengers, he assisted some in crossing the road and he carried luggage of others. He also had to persuade some that his bus was going to move immediately they entered and before the twinkle of an eye the bus was filled while other buses were still there. After some passengers dropped he had to call for more passengers, the first two passengers offered to pay less which was ridiculous.  He refused to carry them and the bus moved to another location, getting there he picked passengers who paid exactly what he called.  It got me thinking thank God he didn't to carry those who offered to less.
