2018, I moved to Ogun state and had to seek employment in a school within my vicinity. As a Lagos teacher, I was used to a vibrant class, swift answers and mushy acts by my students. So I resumed at my new work place with that fully charged energy. The first day got me confused. I was to teach the primary classes, I started my class and it was obvious these children were not following. They could neither understand what I was saying nor did they show any bit of interest. It was then I knew I had to start from the scratch. First, I had to create a connection. I wanted them to understand that I am first their friend. I needed to set the foundation that they can have both a friend and teacher in one. After that, I came down to their level. I made them feel and appreciate every little progress they made. I built up their interest in education. We worked together, applying several strategies I discovered and created, and within some month the growth was evident. Eureka is a book that ...
I was at Adventist Primary School last month for their after school club and I anchored the art and craft class.
I introduced them to recycle art and grouped them into 3 team with the task of making a cup from plastic bottle which I had earlier taught them.
When they started the task I moved around to observe and assist them if need be.
I noticed group 3 were lagging behind, the other groups were almost done with theirs so I asked the group leader why his group was that slow.
" Aunty I want our own to be the best, that's why am taking my time" I was shocked to hear that from a primary school student.
I waited till when they all where through and I had to help fix the cup to complete it.
I tried that of group A and tried fixing it but it couldn't fit in, group B's own also didn't fit in. But surprisingly when I took group C's cup it fit in immediately.
"Aunty you see what I told you" he said as he and his group rejoiced.
I was really taken aback by that event.
He was able to picture the future/the end, so the slow beginning didn't matter to him.
He was so sure it would fit in at the end.
Though his clubmates laughed and mocked his group but that didn't bother him because he was able to picture a great end.
If only we too can picture the end of certain things we want to do maybe we won't be discouraged.
So many of us planned on starting something but we were discouraged because of the mockery from friends, no finance, support e.t.c
Jesus Christ's beginning wasn't rosy, his patent's occupation, his birth place but He had a great end and would be remembered till eternity.
Is the beginning too ugly? Are there limitations? All you need to do is picture a glorious end and work towards it.
The bible says you shouldn't despise thy little beginning. Zechariah 4:10
Job 8:7 "Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter would greatly increase".
The devil knows that the idea you have if implemented would turn your life around, so what does he do?
He makes bleak the possibility of the idea coming into reality.
He places distraction, and all forms of limitations all aimed at discouraging you.
The good news is that he failed but its still up to you.
Picture a great end for that idea, turn a blind eye to every form of distraction and limitations.
Though the lunch brought by the little boy seemed too small but thanks to Jesus who wasn't discouraged but rather pictures a great end and we all know the result.
What are you picturing?
