MY FIRST BUSINESS AT AGE 4 Skip to main content

A story of my confused state

2018, I moved to Ogun state and had to seek employment in a school within my vicinity. As a Lagos teacher, I was used to a vibrant class, swift answers and mushy acts by my students. So I resumed at my new work place with that fully charged energy. The first day got me confused. I was to teach the primary classes, I started my class and it was obvious these children were not following. They could neither understand what I was saying nor did they show any bit of interest. It was then I knew I had to start from the scratch. First, I had to create a connection. I wanted them to understand that I am first their friend. I needed to set the foundation that they can have both a friend and teacher in one. After that, I came down to their level. I made them feel and appreciate every little progress they made. I built up their interest in education. We worked together, applying several strategies I discovered and created, and within some month the growth was evident. Eureka is a book that ...

MY FIRST BUSINESS AT AGE 4

I could remember vividly, i was four years old then when i started my business. I noticed my parents were struggling to feed us and since they still had other expenses to cover i knew i had to support them somehow.

My mum had just give birth to my sister Favor, i collected all her medicine bottles ( those one that looks like a feeder) i washed them all then bought milk and sugar which i mixed in a small bowl and filled them all. This i did without telling my mum because i knew she wouldn't approve of it.

I took my products to school the next day and quietly informed my classmates about it and the price, the sales i made was encouraging and i continued selling it till i had no more bottles so it ended.

Though the money realized from it wasn't that much but i was so happy i could afford matches, pencil, Biro e.t.c just to support.

I had a bank then which i owned, i called it WISDOM BANK it was the usual kolo where i do save the petty cash i got from my business, friends, and family.

As a child i was able to give proper statement of how income and expenses flows.

When i see kids hawking out there i always feel the need to help them because i understand the circumstances that warrant such action.

Do you actually know that business i started then if financial investment is made  can turn out awesome.
Think of something, nothing is too weird to be a business

Children have great ideas which only need investment

If you have a children around you, you are damn lucky

Ask them for a business idea and nurture it maturely

Nigeria kids are the smartest only that they are been ignored

Invest in your child today
One thing about the Nigerian child is that they have great ideas but are been discouraged by people saying they are still kids so shouldn't reason that much.
Children are gifts from God
Find that fortune in your child.

HOW TO COPE WITH SLOW LEARNERS

I remember my first experience with a slow learner. At first I thought he was just lazy but later I realised it wasn't laziness. He was always quite, doesn't answer questions in class and rarely relate with his peers. Within months of my stay in the school I started noticing some changes in my boy. He now attempts assignment and classwork given. He talks in class and now relates well with his classmates. The trick is to first make them feel safe in class rather than make your expectations a burden to them. Over the years I've had to teach slow Learners and it has been a wonderful experience. The link below is a podcast where I talked on how to cope with Slow Learners. It's a ten minutes audio that summarizes strategies you can put in place when you have a slow learner in class. If you have questions, I'll be glad to answer them. https://anchor.fm/MissDairo%20/episodes/How-to-cope-with-Slow-Learners-ef5bj4 Don't forget to leave a comment and share w...

FOODS THAT PROMOTE A CHILD'S GROWTH AND ABILITIES

A balanced diet of nutritious food is the key to a child's healthy growth and development. No food or food group will suddenly add inches to an aspiring dancer. Human growth depends on different organs and processes working together. A balanced diet of grains, fruits, vegetables, and proteins such, as milk, eggs, and meats, provides essential nutrients to all parts of the body so that every inch and pound gained is a healthy inch and pound. Breads and Grain Products Carbohydrates provide the energy kids need to grow and thrive. doctors recommends that about 60 percent of the calories children consume each day should come from carbohydrates found in whole-grain breads, pasta, waffles ,and cereals, both hot and cold. Grain-based foods that have undergone the least amount of processing and refining deliver the highest levels of nutrition to children. It's almost impossible to go wrong with oatmeal, although the instant varieties have high amounts of added sugar. Other food...
