A story of my confused state

2018, I moved to Ogun state and had to seek employment in a school within my vicinity. As a Lagos teacher, I was used to a vibrant class, swift answers and mushy acts by my students. So I resumed at my new work place with that fully charged energy. The first day got me confused. I was to teach the primary classes, I started my class and it was obvious these children were not following. They could neither understand what I was saying nor did they show any bit of interest. It was then I knew I had to start from the scratch. First, I had to create a connection. I wanted them to understand that I am first their friend. I needed to set the foundation that they can have both a friend and teacher in one. After that, I came down to their level. I made them feel and appreciate every little progress they made. I built up their interest in education. We worked together, applying several strategies I discovered and created, and within some month the growth was evident. Eureka is a book that ...

LESSONS OF LIFE FROM AN EXPRESS ROAD

was seated in the BRT bus on Monday and i decided to peep through the windows, and to my greatest surprise i was given a complete view of life.

Most times inspirations comes from things or people we least expect, the view of the under bride road gave me a complete different view about life.
Now before I list the views I got I would want to point out the following scenario that takes place on the express road.

We are familiar with the way cars race past and are only stopped by traffic which rarely occurs
We also are familiar with the way those guys selling stuffs on the road try to catch up with some vehicles so as to sell their wares.

Am sure you’ve also witness where a gala seller sells gala to someone in a car and before he can collects his money the vehicle races off.

I also realized we only buy from those who are fast enough to get to vehicle even while it is moving
Have you also noticed those super swift guys who run faster than Usain Bolt just to sell and collect their money?
Do you also notice that not all of them run, most of them just wait patiently for when there would be traffic so that they can just stroll past your vehicle rather than running.

MY VIEW OF LIFE
1.      I likened life to cars on the express road that race along. Life waits for no one, life moves so fast. Everyday there are new development and life just takes different shape.

2.      I likened us to the guys selling stuffs on the road. Here is life every individual is meant to sell/deliver something.

3.      Life only favors those who are swift enough to run to it and exchange their services for value. Just like how you buy from those who can catch up with your bus so does life also favors those who work diligently, tirelessly towards achieving their goals(s).

4.      Just like how some of those guys ran to give you the gala but couldn’t collect the money, so also is life not fair to certain people. Most people work tirelessly towards achieving their goal but just when they ought to get their reward something happens and they are been denied of it.

5.      Do you notice those guys who sit around waiting for when there would be traffic so that they can sell? Yeah… that’s how majority of us are, we sit waiting for the perfect opportunity which sometimes never comes.

6.      Do you also know most of them get hit by these vehicles? Yes, in life some people would definitely get hit by it. Some would survive and some won’t. That is life.

7.      Those guys sells different things, gala, water, soft drinks, rugs etc. am sure if you wanted gala and a guy selling rug passed by you wouldn’t buy it. That also is how life works; we just have to keep walking till we get someone who wants what we have to offer.

8.      Have you imagined a guy selling gala to you and you gave him #200 then he tells you he doesn’t have change? What happens? Am sure you would drop the gala and beckon on someone else. That’s how life works, you need to be ever ready if not someone else would be called upon to offer that same service you offer.

9.      Whatever you have to offer you must make it attractive and different from others. When buying gala/drinks from them I usually buy from those whose presentation of their wares are attractive so whatever you have to offer must have a good presentation.

10.   Sometimes I try to ask those guys who sell rugs, carpets, shoes, hats on the road if they usually make sales because I have never seen someone buy from them.
But I notice they are always there still displaying their wares waiting for when someone would be in need of what they sell.
That’s how life is, sometimes you might have something to offer but it might seem like no one is in need of it, just keep been keen on rendering that service. Though it may take a while but I assure you someone someday would come asking for it.

HOW TO COPE WITH SLOW LEARNERS

I remember my first experience with a slow learner. At first I thought he was just lazy but later I realised it wasn't laziness. He was always quite, doesn't answer questions in class and rarely relate with his peers. Within months of my stay in the school I started noticing some changes in my boy. He now attempts assignment and classwork given. He talks in class and now relates well with his classmates. The trick is to first make them feel safe in class rather than make your expectations a burden to them. Over the years I've had to teach slow Learners and it has been a wonderful experience. The link below is a podcast where I talked on how to cope with Slow Learners. It's a ten minutes audio that summarizes strategies you can put in place when you have a slow learner in class. If you have questions, I'll be glad to answer them. https://anchor.fm/MissDairo%20/episodes/How-to-cope-with-Slow-Learners-ef5bj4 Don't forget to leave a comment and share w...

MAT 25:14-30 PARABLE OF THE THREE SERVANTS

Hello friends today we would be studying the book of MAT 25:14-30 in a different way SUMMARY OF THE PARABLE OF THE THREE SERVANTS a particular master was about to go on a journey so he gave his first servant 5 talents, the second 2 talents and the last servant 1 talent after which he went on his journey. the first servant traded with his talents and added 5 more to it, the second servant also did the same and added 2 more but the last servants thought that he has been cheated, he felt he wasn't loved by his master so rather than trading with his talent he hid it until the return of his master. When the master returned he asked of the account of the talents and all the servants gave accounts. He appreciated the first two servants and had the last one thrown into the wilderness. FOODS THAT PROMOTE A CHILD'S GROWTH AND ABILITIES

A balanced diet of nutritious food is the key to a child's healthy growth and development. No food or food group will suddenly add inches to an aspiring dancer. Human growth depends on different organs and processes working together. A balanced diet of grains, fruits, vegetables, and proteins such, as milk, eggs, and meats, provides essential nutrients to all parts of the body so that every inch and pound gained is a healthy inch and pound. Breads and Grain Products Carbohydrates provide the energy kids need to grow and thrive. doctors recommends that about 60 percent of the calories children consume each day should come from carbohydrates found in whole-grain breads, pasta, waffles ,and cereals, both hot and cold. Grain-based foods that have undergone the least amount of processing and refining deliver the highest levels of nutrition to children. It's almost impossible to go wrong with oatmeal, although the instant varieties have high amounts of added sugar. Other food...
